PROFILE OF OBRA FOUNDATION

O

bra Foundation is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization established in 1998 to promote the welfare of the rural and he disadvantaged people in society. The Foundation was established by a group of committed individuals together with two (2) Dutch Philanthropists (Olga) Wildschut and Jacqueline Gomashie who also shared the vision of the other local Local Members.

 

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Organization shall among the following:

  • To help build the capacity of the people for development.

  • Assist communities to construct and or renovate health and educational institutional infrastructure.

  • To educate people on health related issued, especially HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Cholera etc. in the area of prevention.

  • To ensue sound environmental practices in our communities through tree planting, preventing bush fires etc. And

  • To promote health by encouraging people to observe personal  hygiene and good sanitation.

 

 

MISSION STATEMENT

 bra Foundation is committed to the development of deprived rural communities through the promotion of quality education and good health especially women and children as well as environmental issues.

 

LOCATION

The foundation is located at ADEISO in the West Akim District of the Eastern Region of the Republic of Ghana.

Adeiso is the second major center in the district apart from the district capital.  It is located along Nsawam-Asamankese road directly opposite the Adeiso Main Lorry Park.

The population of the area is estimated at 8500.

The people are mainly engaged in the agricultural sector with minimal commercial activities. Agro Industrial Processing is becoming increasingly vibrant as a result of good government policies on the agro industrial sector. For instance, Oil palm extraction and cassava processing are very common in the area.
